FBLA members earn national Business Achievement Awards

Six South Fort Myers High School students have earned the “Future Award" from the Future Business Leaders of America. The Business Achievement Awards are an opportunity for active members to document their involvement and to possibly receive local, state, and national recognition.

Nora Goorsky and Dejalyse Torres (9th grade FBLA students), also Aundre’Ya McBride, Matt Mota, and Seth Rodenhofer (12th grade FBLA students), were pinned at the April 9 meeting. They were involved in community service projects, fundraising, as well as business competitions.

South Fort Myers High School's FBLA students have won events at district and even state leadership conferences for both years it has been an active chapter. Miss Jaime Sukovich won 3rd place in Agribusiness at the Florida State Leadership Conference and is invited to represent Florida at Nationals this summer in San Antonio.

FBLA Mission Statement

FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.

FBLA’s programs focus on:

  • Leadership Development—members develop essential soft skills by holding chapter officer positions at the local, state, and national levels; by networking with accomplished business professionals; and by participating in business-focused workshops, seminars, and academic competitions.
  • Academic Competitions—members demonstrate their business expertise at high-profile regional, state, and national competitive events. The top students are recognized with trophies and cash awards. Learn more about FBLA competitive events.
  • Educational Programs—members create career portfolios, enhance their knowledge with world-recognized skills certifications, and have access to select college scholarships. Learn more about educational programs for FBLA.
  • Community Service—members work with the various community outreach programs and local businesses and groups by participating in awareness campaigns.
  • Awards & Recognition—members build a portfolio of accomplishments with a wide range of awards programs. Learn more about FBLA awards programs.

Academic Competitions

FBLA’s National Awards Program, commonly called competitive events, recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Through state-based competition at the spring State Leadership Conferences, members compete in events that test their business knowledge and skills. Top winners in Florida (actually in each state) are eligible to compete for honors at the National Leadership Conference each summer.
