COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Collier County Schools Superintendent Kamela Patton has confirmed all Florida public schools will stay closed until April 15, citing the Florida Board of Education.

The Florida Board of Education released this statement:

Governor DeSantis recommended that K-12 schools stay on extended break until April 15 and every 2 weeks we’ll reevaluate that recommendation. All schools are encouraged to use virtual and non-classroom based options to the greatest extent possible. Schools are also strongly encouraged to have no more than 10 people in a room together to adhere to CDC recommendations.

Concrete plans for each school district in Southwest Florida are in the works and details will be released as soon as possible.
