Ross Chastain, NASCAR driver from Alva, visits South Fort Myers HS shop classes. Michael Braun,

Text from the video producer, Michael Braun, "Ross Chastain, the 25-year-old NASCAR Xfinity Series driver from Alva, paid a visit to the shop classes at South Fort Myers High School Tuesday; giving the students words of encouragement. Chastain was provided a tour of the school's Auto, Welding, and Electrical labs and then provided a chance to work on an actual car. Chastain also explained why he made the stop at South Fort Myers.”

Ross stated: "Man! Their program here, I've heard about it and seen it a couple years ago. They were telling me how they've upgraded stuff and taken it to the next level... and I just wanted to see it for myself; to see what they're doing, what they're teaching kids." He went on to say, "These kids at South, if they go down this career path (or even just in life)... they're so far ahead coming out of high school. Whether it's the electrical side, the welding side, or the automotive: the three areas they showed me today... They're light-years ahead of even where I was ... and I was working on my racecars when I was young."
