What makes South Unique?
Accredited by SAC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), South Fort Myers High School is a comprehensive high school, which seeks to maximize all students’ post-secondary opportunities by providing educational programs which will provide the necessary courses to achieve their goals.
SFMHS has a unique 9th grade Freshman Success Academy that ensures the successful transition from middle school to high school. Grades are monitored bi-weekly by their Freshmen Success Academy teacher and students are taught organization skills resulting in improved academic performance. During the spring, students are introduced to the various career academies SFMHS offers. This academy also provides all 9th graders the unique opportunity to earn industry certifications in the Microsoft Office Suites.
AP Capstone Program: AP Capstone is an innovative diploma program that provides students with an opportunity to engage in rigorous scholarly practice of the core academic skills necessary for successful college completion.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination): is a program that focuses on students in the academic middle with potential, who would benefit from support while taking advanced course work. To be in AVID, an application and interview must be completed.
South Fort Myers High provides college preparatory courses: which includes honors level and Advanced Placement. In addition, students may also take advantage of dual enrollment and early admissions opportunities at Edison College and Florida Gulf Coast University and earn college credits.
J.R.O.T.C.: SFMHS is in the top 8% of JROTC programs through-out the nation and the largest in Lee County. Out of our total school enrollment almost 2000 students, we have 400 enrolled in Leadership.
